If you feel weird, she may feel weird too about commenting on it, even if she liked it. Writing is an intimate form of communication. People sometimes don't know how to react to it when it's someone they know, especially if there's any sort of romantic aspects in it. They might be projecting themselves into the story or identifying with a character and so they feel awkward, believing you might be thinking romantic thoughts about them even if they were the last person you would have thought of at that moment. And non-writers don't understand that the main character in there isn't you at all and can be nothing like you. Just be casual about it and say, "Hey, you never did say... What did you think about my story?"
