Fired after 19 years?

My husband has been on his job for 19 years and the owner where he works called him in and said he has made more mistakes in the past 2 months than in the past 5 years and he wanted to know why my husband told him they have been working 2-3 short everyday and he has just been trying to get the cars in and out.the owner said he is a liabilty and they have to let him go.Now 5 years ago he owner let the another person go and kept him on the payroll for 4weeks and gave him 6 months of unemployment and 1,000 for every year he was there and that was 17...he told my husband to turn in his uniforms and pick up his last check and that is it. so here is my question even though this is a small buisness shouldn't my husband get the same treatment? We bought a house last year and i do not work he is our only income and if he only gets his last check we will lose our house and car we have no savings. plus he said he knows my husband stole from him he set him up he just has not caught him.SLANDER???
