The prophet Elijah ascended to heaven in a fiery chariot. Is Elijah in the afterlife?

I am interested to understand the beliefs in the afterlife amongst the Jewish community. I understand some orthodox jews believe in a ressurection at the end of time. In the OT and in the Hebrew Bible we have the story of Elijah being translated to heaven 2 Kings 2 v11
